Our mission is to promote safe, quality care, optimal quality of life, and dignity for individuals receiving long term care in all

care settings.

 

Members of the Geriatric Circle are academics and health care providers specializing in long term care from across the country.

 

We have come together as individuals since 2021 to advocate for

long term care policies by providing feedback and advice to policymakers, providers and other interested groups.

We have contributed at state and federal levels on issues that have included:

• Appropriate staffing levels to ensure safe, quality care

• Regulatory oversight to ensure high quality of care and safety 

• Ownership and financial transparency 

• The provision of quality jobs with fair wages, benefits and working conditions

• Visitation rights for residents

• Access to services and eviction protection

• Prevention of inappropriate and excessive use of psychotropic medications

• Informed consent
